History


The women's Miami Open began in 1985 as the Lipton International Players Championships. It became a Tier I tournament in 1988 and a Premier Mandatory tournament in 2009.

In 2019 the Miami Open moved to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
