The 28-year-old went deep at the US Open where she beat Naomi Osaka, Jasmine Paolini and Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets. She was on track in the semi-finals before going down 1-6 6-4 6-2 to Jessica Pegula.

The Czech was cruising in Beijing, crushing Anna Blinkova, Yue Yuan, Jaqueline Cristian and Cristina Bucsa before overcoming top seed Aryna Sabalenka 7-6 2-6 6-4 in the quarter-finals. She and took out Qinwen Zheng 6-3 6-4 to reach the final where she lost 6-1 6-3 to Coco Gauff.

Muchova wasn’t troubled in her opening two matches in Ningbo, defeating Olivia Gadecki 6-3 7-5 and Jaqueline Cristian 6-2 6-1. She came back to beat Anna Kalinskaya 2-6 6-2 6-3 in the quarter-finals.
