Rafael Nadal Form

The ATP Paris Masters is Rafael Nadal’s first tournament since winning his 13th French Open title in mid-October. He has shown signs of rustiness in his opening couple of games but has nevertheless got through relatively unscathed.

In the round of 32 of the Paris Masters, Nadal saw off compatriot Feliciano Lopez 4-6 7-6 6-4. Both players served exceptionally well and breaks of serve were at a premium, but Nadal’s quality shone through in the end.

The world No.2 had an easier round of 16 match against Jordan Thompson, but again it wasn’t plain sailing. The first set ended 6-1 in favour of Nadal but Thompson made Nadal fight tooth and nail to win the second in a keenly contested tie-break.

Nadal was again taken to three sets by Pablo Carreno-Busta in the quarter-final. For the fifth time in eight matches, Rafael Nadal dropped the first set but bounced back to win 4-6 7-5 6-1.
