Carlos Alcaraz vs Arthur Rinderknech Preview

Carlos Alcaraz has been pushed in both matches at Queen’s and Arthur Rinderknech hasn’t allowed a break point in the main draw. I am not taking the short odds on Alcaraz, over 20.5 games the best bet here.

Carlos Alcaraz Form

Carlos Alcaraz won the Rotterdam Open in February, his only final appearance on hard courts. He was outstanding on clay, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters and reaching the Barcelona Open final where he lost to Holger Rune.

The 22-year-old won another title in Rome, taking out Jannik Sinner 7-6 6-1 in the final. He then won the French Open, facing Sinner again in the final where he saved three match points in an epic 5 sets victory.

The Spaniard got past Adam Walton 6-4 7-6 in the first round at Queen’s. He was pushed by Jaume Munar in the second round, getting through 6-4 6-7 7-5 after saving 10/12 break points.

Arthur Rinderknech Form

Arthur Rinderknech is 11-20 this year, unable to qualify or get past the second round in his opening 18 tournaments.

The Frenchman started the grass court swing in Stuttgart, beating Denis Shapovalov before a 7-6) 6-3 second round defeat to Marton Fucsovics.

Rinderknech went down to Corentin Moutet in the second round at Queen’s Club where he got to the main draw as a lucky loser. He shocked Ben Shelton 7-6 7-6 and Reilly Opelka 7-5 7-6, not allowing a break point in both victories.

Verdict

Arthur Rinderknech has beaten Ben Shelton and Reilly Opelka at Queen’s Club without allowing a break point. Carlos Alcaraz is far too short here, my money on over 20.5 games.
