The first Rotterdam Open was held in 1972 with Arthur Ashe beating Tom Okker 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the final.

Jannik Sinner is the defending champion after beating Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-4 in the 2024 final.

History


The first Rotterdam Open tennis tournament was held in 1972 and was won by Arthur Ashe. Ashe went on to win three titles.

The Rotterdam Open was an event on the World Championship Tennis circuit and became part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit in 1978. Since 1990 the tournament has been part of the ATP Tour.

In 1984 the final between Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors was interrupted in the 2nd set due to a bomb alarm. The match was not finished with Lendl not prepared to continue the match.

Roger Federer accepted a wildcard into the event in 2018 after a five-year absence. He beat Grigor Dimitrov 6-2, 6-2 in the final to claim his third singles title.
