Emma Navarro has played a lot of tennis this year, going is 46-19 on the WTA Tour. She reached the semi-finals in Auckland and San Diego either side of winning the Hobart International.

The 23-year-old was average on clay but saw some success on grass, a semi-final exit in Bad Homburg followed by a quarter-final appearance at Wimbledon.

The American is thriving on hard courts, getting to the semi-finals in Toronto before an early exit in Cincinnati. She limped into the Monterrey Open semi-finals where she lost to Linda Noskova.

The home crowd favourite was too good for Paula Badosa in the quarter-finals, getting through 6-2 7-5. Her serve was efficient, winning 59% of her 2nd serves and limiting Badosa to 26%.
