Novak Djokovic faces Kyle Edmund in the second round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows on Wednesday. Djokovic is on a 24-match unbeaten run in 2020 and starts a heavy favourite to send Edmund out of the US Open.

Novak Djokovic Form

Fresh from winning the Western & Southern Open at Flushing Meadows, world number one Djokovic made quick work of opening round opponent Damir Dzumhur at the US Open.

It is now 24 wins and no defeats this calendat year for the three-time US Open champion after he defeated Dzumhur in quick time.

Dzumhur won just six games as Djokovic take the opening round contest 6-1, 6-4, 6-1, although the top seed converted only seven of 19 break point opportunities. There is room for improvement and more to come from Djokovic.

Kyle Edmund Form

Edmund avoided a third straight first round debut at the US Open when coming from a set down to beat Alexander Bublik 2-6, 7-5, 7-5, 6-0.

The Englishman can't afford such a slow start again, however, when he comes up against Djokovic.

It was Bublik's double serve count and 43% win rate on second serve that played into Edmond's hands, and he took full advantage. But those opportunities will be few and far between against the world number one.

Novak Djokovic vs Kyle Edmund Head to Head

Djokovic and Edmund have been on opposite sides of the net on six occasions with five of them being won the world number one. Edmund did upset the Serb in the Madrid Masters on clay two years ago, but that is his solitary win. At the US Open, Djokovic defeated Edmund in straight sets in a fourth round tie in 2016.

Novak Djokovic vs Kyle Edmund Odds

Djokovic is 1.025 to win against Edmund, who is a huge 17.00 outsider. In the handicap, Djokovic is 1.83 to overcome a -9.5 games handicap.
