Carlos Alcaraz Form
Carlos Alcaraz won the Rotterdam Open in February, his only final appearance on five hard court events. He was close to unbeatable on clay, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters and reaching the Barcelona Open final where he lost to Holger Rune.
The 22-year-old won another clay title in Rome, defeating Jannik Sinner in the final. He then won a second French Open title, facing Sinner again in the final where he saved three match points in a 5 sets victory.
The Spaniard competed in one grass court event, winning the title at Queen’s Club. He was pushed to 3 sets by Jaume Munar before beating Arthur Rinderknech and Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets.
Alcaraz got past Jiri Lehecka 7-5 6-7 6-2 in the final, his third straight match where his serve wasn’t broken.
Verdict
Fabio Fognini is in Wimbledon to collect some cash for competing, the 38-year-old absolutely no chance of beating Carlos Alcaraz. I am backing the defending champion to cover a -9.5 games handicap in the first round.
