The 29-year-old got through the Wimbledon qualifiers without dropping a set. He looked down and out in the first round before coming back to beat Holger Rune 4-6 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4.
Jarry did it easier in the second round, thrashing Learner Tien 6-2 6-2 6-3 after winning 67% of his 2nd serves and not allowing a break point.

Joao Fonseca won his first ATP Tour title in February, on clay in Buenos Aires. He won the Phoenix Challenger but hasn’t reached a quarter-final in his previous seven tournaments.
The Brazilian started the grass court swing in Halle where he suffered a first round defeat to Flavio Cobolli. He beat Zizou Bergs at Eastbourne before a narrow 6-3 6-7 7-5 second round loss against Taylor Fritz.
The 18-year-old took out local hope Jacob Fearnley 6-4 6-1 7-6 at Wimbledon, saving all four break points. He beat Jenson Brooksby 6-4 5-7 6-2 6-4 in the second round, winning 52% of his 2nd serves and saving 10/13 break points.
Verdict
Joao Fonseca is one of the rising stars in tennis and has hardly been troubled at Wimbledon. Nicolas Jarry is a former Top 20 player but I think Fonseca gets through in 4 sets here.
