Novak Djokovic vs Denis Shapovalov Predictions
Novak Djokovic hasn’t dropped a set since the first round and continues to impress, weathering the storm of Marton Fucsovics in the quarterfinals. Denis Shapovalov was up and down in a five-set quarterfinal.
It looks likely that Djokovic’s consistent counterpunching, tremendous effectiveness on serve and pin-sharp point construction will prevail over the more erratic, albeit talented, Shapovalov.

Novak Djokovic Form
Novak Djokovic extended his winning streak at Wimbledon to 19 matches by reaching the semifinals and has now won all 19 Grand Slam matches he has played in 2021. The world no. 1 continues to close in on the ‘Channel Slam’.
Djokovic lost his first set of the tournament to British wildcard Jack Draper but has now won 15 consecutive sets. Against Marton Fucsovics, who had beaten Andrey Rublev to reach the quarterfinals, Djokovic was impenetrable.
Fucsovics could not have played much better than he did in the second set, and yet Djokovic won 6-3 6-4 6-4. Djokovic leads all the remaining players in percentage of first-serve points won, averaging 86% for the tournament, which shows how effective his first serve has become.
Djokovic is 29-11 in Grand Slam semifinals and has won his last five Wimbledon semifinals.

Denis Shapovalov Form
Denis Shapovalov showcased the best and worst of his game in a five-set win over Karen Khachanov to reach his first Grand Slam semifinal.
Shapovalov played better as the match went on, saving his best tennis for sets four and five in which he produced the same scintillating attacking tennis that beat Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista Agut earlier in the tournament.
However, he often looked tactically uncertain when Khachanov simply consistently kept the ball deep, something Djokovic will do with much more success.
Shapovalov won 6-4 3-6 5-7 6-1 6-4 to earn an opportunity to reach his first Grand Slam final. He has served more double faults than anyone else in the tournament, however, and his serve looks vulnerable.
After losing his first six matches against Djokovic, it’s not clear what he can do to overwhelm the world no. 1.

Djokovic’s perfect record against Shapovalov reflects how well he matches up against the Canadian. Like other aggressive but erratic players, Shapovalov struggles to find a way through Djokovic’s defences.
Their only previous Grand Slam meeting was a one-sided four-set win for Djokovic. This is likely to be similar.
