Sorana Cirstea Form
After a long history of injury, Sorana Cirstea has been resurgent in recent years. She won her second career WTA title, 13 years after the first, in Istanbul and also made a WTA final in Strasbourg.
Cirstea has now made the third round or better at four consecutive Grand Slams. Grass has never been her best surface – she has a 29-32 record – but she has a good serve and aggressive groundstrokes which can work well.
Cirstea lost both her grass-court matches in the run-up to Wimbledon, but had a solid victory over a British wildcard 6-3, 6-3. She then had a very close match against 12th seed Victoria Azarenka, prevailing 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.

Emma Raducanu Form
Emma Raducanu has made a brilliant Wimbledon debut, winning the first match she has ever played against a top-100 opponent to reach the third round.
The 18-year-old wildcard beat Vitalia Diatchenko 7-6, 6-0 before taking on former French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova. Raducanu overpowered the Czech left-hander 6-2, 6-4.
Raducanu is still not really established as a pro; she won her first ITF titles in 2018-19, but has only played a handful of matches since the pandemic hit. However, she is a talented ballstriker and is playing with no pressure.
Sorana Cirstea and Emma Raducanu meet in the third round of Wimbledon on Saturday 3 July.

Raducanu will find Cirstea’s aggressive power a bit of a contrast to Vondrousova’s crafty game. The Romanian’s experience is likely to see her into the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the first time.
