The 21-year-old made it 11 straight wins at the Olympics, defeating Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals and Donna Vekic in the final. She couldn’t maintain that form on hard courts, exiting in the third round in Cincinnati.

The World No.7 reached the US Open quarter-finals where she lost to Sabalenka once again. She went deep in Beijing last week, beating Mirra Andreeva before a 6-3 6-4 semi-final defeat to Karolina Muchova.
