Ukraine Eurovision Odds

Ukraine is scheduled to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, represented by the Kalush Orchestra with the song "Stefania", and are big odds-on favourites to win the contest.

Kalush Orchestra were confirmed as the act set to represent Ukraine just days before Russia invaded the country.

With no sign of the war in Ukraine ending, Eurovision is unlikely to appeal to many people in the country this year.

But according to Kalush Orchestra's lead vocalist, the song has become an unofficial "anthem for Ukraine".

"The song we have created, it’s the anthem for Ukraine and everybody is singing it," Oleh Psiuk recently told Sky News.

Psiuk has spent most of his time in recent weeks supporting the Ukrainian war effort, creating a volunteer group and providing food to those in need.

Some viewers of Eurovision often believe tactical or political voting plays a part in the contest. When Greece and Cyprus give each other 12 points every year, it's easy to see why people think this way.

But with Russia banned and Ukraine favourites to win, voting may be different this year, and Psiuk believes "justice" will be done in Italy.

"If they had been allowed to enter Eurovision this year, it would have symbolised the support of Russia’s actions," Kalush Orchestra's founder said.

"But now, I have the feeling of justice."
