Next Match of the Day Host Odds – Alex Scott 2/1 to succeed Gary Lineker

Lineker will leave the iconic highlights show at the end of the current season, and there will be no shortage of candidates to take on the role.

Bookmaker Coral believes former Arsenal and England ladies star Alex Scott is at the front of the queue.

Scott, who has journalism qualifications, made history in 2018 when she became the first female pundit to work at a World Cup for the BBC.

Since then she has gone on to become the host of Football Focus, and at 2/1 the bookies believe she will make history again by becoming the first full-time female host of Match of the Day.

Commentator and BBC Match of the Day 2 host Mark Chapman is next up in the betting at 5/2, while Sky Sports presenter David Jones is considered a 6/1 shot.

“Alex Scott has been very popular in our betting over the last 24 hours,” Coral's John Hill told FreeTips.com.

“The Football Focus presenter is the new favourite to fill the Lineker's shoes next season.”
