BBC Sports Personality of the Year Odds – Lionesses backed for SPOTY after World Cup heroics

The Lionesses face Spain in the Final on Sunday, and two of the key figures in their run to the final have been Alessia Russo and Millie Bright.

Not only have their performances put England on the brink of glory, they have also caught the eye of those betting on the Sports Personality of the Year award with Coral.

As a result, Russo is now into 9/2 to win the annual award, making her the second favourite in the betting behind cricket star Stuart Broad, while Bright has shortened to 6/1.

“The Lionesses are one step away from World Cup glory,” Coral’s John Hill told FreeTips.com.

“It is no surprise that many of the Lionesses are being backed in our BBC Sports Personality of the Year market, with the most support coming for Alessia Russo.”

Bookmaker Coral are struggling to split the two teams, with both England and Spain 17/20 in the outright market.

The Lionesses are 19/10 to win the final in 90 minutes, with a Spain victory in regulation 13/8 and the draw 21/10.

“We can’t separate the two teams in Sunday’s final,” Hill added. “It is sure to be a nail-biting early afternoon for England fans.”
