Amanda Ribas is tipped to repeat her October 2019 win over Mackenzie Dern.

Ribas has good takedown defense and is the better striker, so we expect her to keep this fight standing as she picks apart Dern once again.

Mackenzie Dern is the current #6 ranked contender in the women’s strawweight division with a record of 14-5 (7 Subs).

Dern debuted in the UFC in March 2018 and won her first two fights before dropping a decision to Amanda Ribas in October 2019.

She responded to that setback with her best run of form under the UFC banner, reeling off four consecutive victories.

The 31-year-old American submitted Hannah Cifers, Randa Markos and Nina Nunes in the first round during that run, while also besting Virna Jandiroba on points.

Dern’s form cooled off after that though and she went 2-2 in her next four fights, dropping decisions to Marina Rodriguez and Yan Xiaonan while beating Tecia Torres and Angela Hill.

She then ended 2023 with a second-round knockout loss at the hands of Jessica Andrade, before losing a decision to Amanda Lemos in her first outing of 2024.

Dern does go into this fight on the back of a win however, having beaten Loopy Godinez on points last August.

Amanda Ribas Form

Amanda Ribas is currently the #10 ranked women’s strawweight contender with a career record of 13-5 (4 KOs, 4 Subs).

Ribas made her debut in June 2019 and got off to a flying start as she won her first four fights, starting with a submission win over Emily Whitmire.

She then beat Mackenzie Dern and Randa Markos on points, before submitting Paige VanZant in the first round.

The 31-year-old Brazilian’s run was finally ended by a second-round TKO loss to Marina Rodiguez, and although she bounced back quickly, she has struggled for consistency since then.

Ribas beat Virna Jandiroba on points, and then had to bounce back from a split decision defeat to Katlyn Chookagian with a unanimous points win over Viviane Araujo.

She failed to back that up as she was stopped by Maycee Barber in the second round, but she again responded immediately to a loss by knocking out Luana Pinheiro.

However, she was unable to follow that up in her only fight of 2024, dropping a decision to Rose Namajunas.
