Stipe Miocic Form
Stipe Miocic has gone 8-1 since a decision defeat to Junior dos Santos in December 2014.
His only loss since came in July 2018 when he was shockingly taken out inside a round by former light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier.
That loss ended Miocic’s record-setting run of successful heavyweight title defences which had seen him knock out a string of legendary fighters in the first round before outclassing Ngannou over five.
Despite the setback Miocic won the belt back in his very next outing, knocking out Cormier in the rematch.
He then settled the rivalry once in the summer of 2020 as he got the better of ‘DC’ over five rounds to cement his position atop the heavyweight ladder.
Francis Ngannou Form
Ngannou’s UFC career appeared to be spiralling in 2018.
Having torn through the opposition to charge into title contention, ‘The Predator’ was proven to be out of his depth in his first crack at the heavyweight crown
He was dismantled over five rounds by Miocic.
Gun-shy from that loss, Ngannou then damaged his stock even further as he dropped a decision defeat to Derrick Lewis in a fight that would put an insomniac to sleep.
He was put on blast by UFC president Dana White follow that loss, but as Michael Jordan would say, Ngannou ‘took that personally’.
In his next outing ‘The Predator’ destroyed Curtis Blaydes in just 45 seconds, and when he returned to action a few months later he needed even less time to take out former heavyweight champion Cain Velasques.
Ngannou needed just 71 seconds to see off another ex-champion as he took his win streak to three fights by demolishing Junior dos Santos.
He then secured his second shot at UFC gold in May of last year when he finished fellow heavy-hitter Jairzinho Rozenstruik in only 20 seconds.
Ngannou is the Ivan Drago of UFC – whatever he hits, he destroys. But can he hit Miocic?
