Phoenix Suns Form & Team News

Phoenix’s run to the Western Conference Finals saw them dump out the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, and then sweep Denver.

Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton led the charge and it was Booker who lit up the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1.

Booker ran riot with 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in his first career triple double, and that played a key role in the Suns running out 120-114 winners.

He was nowhere near as effective in Game 2, but Ayton (24 points, 14 rebounds) and Cameron Payne (29 points) picked up the slack.

Ayton’s last-gasp bucket was the decisive moment, lifting Phoenix to a 104-103 win and a 2-0 series lead.

It was not all good news coming out of the game though, as Booker sustained a broken nose that will require him to wear a protective mask.

That mask appeared to have a major effect on his shooting in Game 3 as he was held to just 15 points, and Los Angeles took full advantage with a 106-92 win that puts them right back in the series.

Booker will be good to go in Game 4, albeit he wearing the mask again, and Phoenix will be hoping for a sharper Chris Paul after he returned from the league protocol in Game 3.

Los Angeles Clippers Form & Team News

Los Angeles have had a marathon run to the Western Conference Finals and they will need another long series if they are to make the NBA Finals.

The Clippers fought back from 2-0 down to see off Dallas 4-3 in the first round, and they then fought back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Utah 4-2 to set up this meeting with Phoenix.

Kawhi Leonard racked up 65 points and 19 rebounds across Games 3 & 4 with Dallas before going down with injury.

George averaged 31.8 points per game between Games 2 and 4 to be the driving force, and he was hot in Game 1 of this series, putting up 34 points in a 120-114 defeat.

George led LA in scoring with 26 points in Game 2, but he missed a couple of late free throws and that allowed Phoenix to escape with a 104-103 win.

But just like in the previous two rounds, LA have responded to going 2-0 down by taking the third game.

Paul George racked up 27 points and 15 rebounds, and Ivica Zubac also notched a double double (17 points, 16 rebounds), as the Clippers ran out 106-92 winners.

They now have an opportunity to level the series before heading back out on the road, but they will have to do it without Kawhi Leonard (knee).
