The WSOP Super Circuit scheduled in Cyprus for 2026 has been postponed due to ongoing regional uncertainties. This comes after the World Poker Tour also delayed its WPT Prime Cyprus Championship in light of conflicts involving Iran, citing safety concerns for staff and players. A mixed-games event in Las Vegas by an Israeli organizer was also canceled due to travel restrictions. A second major event has been postponed with WSOP Super Circuit Cyprus 2026 the latest to be cancelled due to uncertainty in the region.

The series was due to run from April 25 to May 11, 2026, at a major resort in Cyprus but organizers has postponed the event due to “ongoing uncertainties in the region”.

Player safety is the main reason the spring festival will not go ahead with WSOP making the announcement on social media.

Poker Cancellations

Earlier this month, the World Poker Tour postponed the WPT Prime Cyprus Championship, a $1,100, $1 million guaranteed event at Chamada Prestige Hotel & Spa, directly citing the war involving Iran and increased risk around flying staff and players into the country.

The knock-on effects of the same conflict have also reached other parts of the poker calendar. A mixed-games festival hosted by a well-known Israeli poker personality in Las Vegas was cancelled after its organizer could no longer travel due to regional security concerns and restrictions.

Cyprus itself has been flagged more broadly as a destination feeling the impact of the Iran war and wider Eastern Mediterranean tensions, with travel advisories urging extra caution or recommending that some visitors reconsider plans.

Merit Poker’s 2026 schedule in Northern Cyprus, which includes multiple festivals across the first half of the year, is being promoted with the usual “subject to change” language.

Organizers have not announced any alterations yet, but like all operators in the region, they are watching the security situation closely.

Other international tours with Cyprus stops later in 2026 have also not made public changes but may face pressure if travel warnings escalate or if airlines adjust routes and capacity into the island.
