Note To Self, trained by Justin Snaith, clinched a memorable win in the 2026 Durban July at Greyville. Starting as the 4/1 favourite, Note To Self overcame strong competition, especially from stablemate Wish List, to win South Africa’s most iconic horse racing event. Richard Fourie’s tactical ride made the difference as he surged to victory in the closing stages, with King Pelles and Viva’s Liberte rounding out the top four. The result underscores Snaith’s continued dominance in the Durban July.

Here's the full result and replay as Note To Self wins the 2026 Durban July at Greyville.

Justin Snaith played a strong hand in his quest to win a sixth Durban July. Snaith's leading three-year-olds Note To Self and Wish List sat prominently in the betting, with Regulation, Native Ruler and Legal Counsel representing the older brigade.

Another three-year-old Viva's Liberte was fancied for Candice Bass. Cup Trial winner Zeitz also sat prominently in the market, along with the low drawn Isivivane and the experienced Gladatorian.

Choisaanada and Curious Girl were promoted into the final field earlier in the week. Aladdin's Lamp and I Salute You came in for each-way supper. Mocha Blend and King Pelles weren't without a chance. Hazy Dazy, Minogue and Olivia's Way were amongst the backmarkers in the betting.

The horses entered the starting stalls at Greyville just moments after a spine-tingling rendition of the national anthem. When the gates burst open, Isivivane was the first to show from stall one, with Choisaanada and Legal Counsel also going forward.

The pace was fairly sedate, which might not have suited the hold-up horses. Note To Self and Regulation were settled in mid-division, with Minogue anchored at the rear of the field.

Legal Counsel moved on to try and increase the tempo. Suddenly, Richard Fourie made a bold move aboard Note To Self, pulling the favourite to the outside of the field before sweeping powerfully into contention around the home turn.

Wish List was positioned just behind the pace throughout and moved to the head of the field with three furlongs to travel. Note To Self edged back towards the inside rail, and Justin Snaith's leading three-year-olds settled down for a thrilling duel.

Wish List had beaten Note To Self in the Cape Derby earlier in the season, but this time it was a different story. Note To Self began to get the upper hand inside the final furlong, and Richard Fourie's early move proved inspired as the favourite claimed a narrow victory.

King Pelles kept on well to finish close behind Justin Snaith's leading pair. Viva's Liberte saw out the trip strongly to finish fourth along the rail, while Isivivane battled on bravely to claim fifth.
