2026 Grand National Entries
I Am Maximus has been backed into clear favouritism for this year's Grand National. Willie Mullins' star won this race in 2024, and ran a screamer to finish second behind Nick Rockett 12 months ago.
Nick Rockett has only run once since last year's triumph, finishing third on his belated reappearance at Down Royal in March. Grangeclare West, third behind his two stablemates in 2025, sits high up in the betting again after a taking victory in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse.
Along with I Am Maximus, JP McManus has three other contenders sitting prominently in the market. Jagwar qualified for the Grand National with that runner-up effort in the Ultima at Cheltenham, where he was narrowly beaten by fellow flag-bearer Johnnywho. Iroko drifted from his position at the head of the ante-post Grand National betting, after only finishing tenth under top-weight at Cheltenham.
Haiti Couleurs faded rapidly from the front in the Gold Cup, but Rebecca Curtis' Irish and Welsh Grand National winner should be much more comfortable back in handicap company at Aintree. Monty's Star has been laid out for the National after a series of decent efforts in Grade Ones. Gerri Colombe finished second to Grangeclare West in the Bobbijo, and will head to Aintree on the back of a win over Nick Rockett and Roi Mage at Down Royal.

Dan Skelton's will be represented by the prolific mare Panic Attack, who warmed up for Aintree with a third-place finish in the Mares' Chase at Cheltenham. Connor King looks set to unleash another JP McManus representative, the talented novice Oscars Brother. Gavin Cromwell's assault will be spearheaded by Cross Country winner Final Orders, and potentially Preceval Legallois.
Scottish Grand National winner Captain Cody will bolster Willie Mullins' squad, along with High Class Hero, Lecky Watson and Champ Kiely. Stellar Story and Favori De Champdou look set to run for Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown Stud. Joseph O'Brien's Jordans, and Henry de Bromhead's Gorgeous Tom have come in for support in recent days.
Twig finished tenth in the 2025 Grand National, and beat Mr Vango in the Becher Chase earlier in the season. Both will represent British connections at Aintree, as could Nicky Henderson's Hyland, Beauport for the Twiston-Davies', and Venetia Williams' former Grade One winner, L'Homme Presse.
