Day 4 of Royal Ascot 2026 promises thrilling Group One action and value-packed betting opportunities across a seven-race card. The headline events are the Commonwealth Cup and the much-anticipated Coronation Stakes rematch, where Precise is the recommended pick. Other top plays include each-way shots like Topaz in the Albany Stakes and Omni Man in the Duke of Edinburgh, while Glyfada and Spinning Lizzie present value in the Sandringham. Bettors are encouraged to focus on Group races and competitive handicaps, with no bet advised in the King Edward VII Stakes.

A capacity field has been declared against Venetian Sun in the Commonwealth Cup, before viewers are treated to a 1000 Guineas rematch in the Coronation Stakes. Here are our free betting tips for day four of Royal Ascot 2026.

Royal Ascot Day 4 Tips - Friday 19th June 2026

2:30pm Ascot - Albany Stakes Tips

Sun Goddess has been backed as if defeat is out of the question, and it seems likely that Aidan O'Brien's filly will go off at an odds-on price for Friday's opener. TOPAZ (25/1) has been drawn next to the market leader in stall 15, and I'm going to chance Jack Channon's filly at an each-way price.

Topaz made her racecourse debut on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket and got off to a fairly inauspicious start. Jolivette took command of the contest going into the dip, but it was Channon's filly who really caught my eye with her late charge from the rear, crossing the line just a neck behind Andrew Balding's winner.

This Persian Force filly was given an educational ride by Finley Marsh, and she seemed to learn plenty as the race progressed. Tom Marquand takes the ride today, and I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see Topaz challenge some of the more fancied runners.

3:40pm Ascot - Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes Tips

The entire field for this classy handicap is separated by just nine pounds, which is usually a positive for the higher-rated runners, as they don't have to give much weight away to the rest of the field. Warrant Holder should give the King and Queen something to cheer about, but I'm going to side with OMNI MAN (14/1) at an each-way price.

Joseph O'Brien's gelding was held up in the King George V Stakes at last year's Royal meeting and kept on to finish a fairly close fifth behind Merchant. Omni Man then struck gold at Glorious Goodwood, powering home from the rear to claim a comfortable success under Ryan Moore.

Since then, Omni Man has been kept to Pattern races and hasn't been competitive on either of his starts this term over ten furlongs and a mile. Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount steps straight back up to 12 furlongs as he re-enters handicap company, and there's every chance that Omni Man could still be well treated in this sphere.

There's a good chance that INSANITY (33/1) is overpriced too, considering his previous form at the course. Alan King's charge won the 12-furlong handicap at the 2024 Breeders' Cup meeting and was only beaten a length in the same contest under Joanna Mason at this year's event.

Insanity then suffered two agonising defeats at York, losing out to Asgaard's Captain at the Ebor Festival and to Grey Cuban in October. King's charge shaped with plenty of promise on his return to action at Pontefract in April, and this step back up in distance will suit. Rossa Ryan and Alan King won the Copper Horse Handicap on day one, so they'll be high on confidence going into Friday's opening handicap.

4:20pm Ascot - Coronation Stakes Tips

I usually cover all of the Group One races at Royal Ascot in separate articles. However, I don't think I need an entire article to tell you that the two Aidan O'Brien runners will dominate this contest, and PRECISE (4/6) should confirm her superiority over stablemate True Love.

True Love claimed the bragging rights when winning the 1000 Guineas, with Precise crossing the line in seventh place. The winner was fully revved up that day, having already won the Classic trial at Leopardstown, whereas Precise was having her first start of the season after suffering a setback in March.

Wayne Lordan's mount was slowly away in the Irish 1000 Guineas and was forced to sit wide at the rear for much of the contest. Yet, once Lordan asked Precise to quicken, O'Brien's filly stormed into contention, cruising past True Love to claim a commanding two-length victory.

Ryan Moore has chosen wrongly in both Classics, and I can't imagine he'll make the same mistake three times in a row. He's opted to ride Precise on Friday, and I'd be surprised if True Love was able to reverse the form of that Curragh Classic.

5:00pm Ascot - Sandringham Stakes Tips

The pace seems to have been distributed fairly evenly across the straight track in this handicap, so to be safe, I'm going to back one on either side. GLYFADA (9/1) will make her handicap debut on Friday, and there's plenty to suggest that her opening mark of 91 is extremely lenient.

Donnacha O'Brien started his filly out over a mile and a quarter, and Glyfada did well over that distance, finishing second on debut at the Curragh before a cosy victory over a future winner at Naas. O'Brien dropped his filly back to a mile on her most recent outing at Killarney, and Glyfada produced her most impressive performance yet, scooting home to beat another future winner by two easy lengths.

Glyfada barely seemed to break a sweat that day when clocking an RPR of 94, and the runner-up has come out and boosted the form with a win. Oisin Murphy's mount has been drawn right up against the stands' rail in stall 31, and Glyfada should be a massive player with just 8-13 to shoulder.

At the other end of the betting, SPINNING LIZZIE (40/1) catches my eye. Jamie Insole has campaigned this daughter of Kameko at a good level throughout her short career, and Spinning Lizzie has done well, finishing a four-length fifth behind Precise in last year's Prestige Stakes at Goodwood, before kicking off 2026 with a hard-fought triumph at Kempton over future Listed winner Ellusive Butterfly.

Spinning Lizzie then struggled when asked to make the running in the Fred Darling Stakes, and didn't really see out ten furlongs when third behind the excellent Jennifer Jane in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket. Rossa Ryan's mount should be much happier back at a mile on Friday, and she's capable of landing a blow on just her second handicap start.

5:35pm Ascot - King Edward VII Stakes Tips

Water To Wine seems to have scared off the opposition in Ascot's version of the Derby, which has again attracted a small field. Causeway is a live contender for Aidan O'Brien, and Ancient Egypt will be much more effective back on faster ground. Yet, nothing appeals from a betting point of view, so I'll be taking a watching brief.

6:10pm Ascot - Palace Of Holyroodhouse Tips

Only two horses have ever finished in the first five in this handicap from a single-figure draw, and one of them turned out to be a future July Cup winner. However, a good amount of pace seems to have been placed in the low stalls, so I wouldn't be too worried if the horse you fancy has been drawn towards the inside rail.

American raider SANDAL'S SONG (14/1) went close in the Norfolk Stakes last year. George Weaver's colt finished third behind impressive winner Charles Darwin, with future Group One winner Wise Approach crossing the line in second.

Sandal's Song wasn't seen again until a sixth-place finish at Keeneland in April. Weaver's charge appeared to have improved plenty for that return to action when second in the William Walker Stakes at Churchill Downs last month, losing out to Wesley Ward's Commonwealth Cup contender, Outfielder.

Given that form against proper Group One opposition, Sandal's Song looks very well treated off an opening handicap mark of 99, and James Doyle will be pleased with a central draw in stall 11. I'd be surprised if money didn't arrive for Sandal's Song before the off.
