The 2026 St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot brings together three-year-olds with recent Classic form. Bow Echo, unbeaten and victorious in the 2000 Guineas, leads the betting, but Gstaad—who scored well in the Irish 2000 Guineas—looks ready to challenge. Expert analysis suggests Gstaad has a strong chance of reversing previous form given expected race conditions. Rayif, Talk Of New York, and others complete the competitive field. Tipsters recommend siding with Gstaad for the win. Live streaming options are available for viewers.

2026 St James's Palace Stakes Entries
Bow Echo ran out a tremendous winner of the 2000 Guineas on his reappearance at Newmarket. George Boughey's unbeaten colt hammered Gstaad by three lengths, and connections are convinced that Bow Echo has improved for that return to action.
Gstaad bounced back from that defeat by claiming a commanding victory in the Irish version of the 2000 Guineas, and Aidan O'Brien is looking forward to a rematch with the market leader at Royal Ascot. Francis Graffard's Rayif scored an impressive victory in the French 2000 Guineas on his return to action, and he'll be the third Classic winner in Tuesday's field.
Charlie Appleby looks set to run Talk Of New York following his excellent victory in the Heron Stakes. Aidan O'Brien could also run Group One winner Puerto Rico, who finished fourth behind Rayif on his return to the track in France.
Neolithic and Flushing Meadows have also been entered by Aidan O'Brien. Robson De Aguiar's Power Blue and Ismail Mohammed's Lord Britain complete Tuesday's field.
2026 St James's Palace Stakes Tips
This is all about the top two in the betting for me. Talk Of New York and Rayif are good, but the two Guineas winners are far superior to the rest of the field.
Bow Echo was superb in the 2000 Guineas, winning well under Billy Loughnane. GSTAAD (3/1) couldn't match his rival for finishing speed that day, but I think there's a chance those placings could be reversed at the Royal meeting.
Bow Echo and Gstaad burst clear of the pack at the same time going into the dip at Newmarket. Billy Loughnane's mount stayed straight towards the stands' side of the track. Gstaad lugged slightly right towards the slower inner part of the straight, but still kept on well up the hill to finish three lengths behind the winner, as the top two pulled a long way clear of the chasing pack.

Unlike Bow Echo, Gstaad has run again since their meeting at Newmarket. Ryan Moore's mount claimed a routine victory in the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh, where the 4/11 favourite took a little while to get rolling before clocking some smart closing sectionals to record his own three-length success.
Aidan O'Brien will want a rapid pace at Ascot in an attempt to stretch Bow Echo's stamina. Puerto Rico will likely make the running. Neolithic is almost certain to go forward too, and Flushing Meadows could also run to ensure the Ballydoyle front-runners don't get an easy lead.
The Coral-Eclipse, Juddmonte International and the Cox Plate have all been mentioned as possible targets for Gstaad, so there are no concerns regarding his stamina. O'Brien's star bolted up in the Coventry Stakes on the opening day of Royal Ascot 12 months ago. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if he reversed that Classic form with the market leader.
