The 2025 Tingle Creek Chase is set to excite with top contenders Il Etait Temps, Jonbon, and L'Eau Du Sud battling it out at Sandown. Jonbon, despite being odds-against, holds strong potential given his impressive record at this track. This race serves as a precursor to the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. With specific strategies and historical wins, Jonbon emerges as a valuable bet. The potential rain and first-time cheekpieces might further enhance his performance, offering an edge during the race.

The first Grade One race for two-mile chasers takes place at Sandown on Saturday, where the Tingle Creek Chase will be played out in front of a capacity crowd. Many of jump racing's finest two milers have won this great race, and the winner often goes on to run in the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Here's our free guide to the 2025 Tingle Creek, including our best betting tips.

Il Etait Temps made it six wins from eight starts over fences with a routine reappearance win at Clonmel last month. Willie Mullins' star handed Jonbon a five-length trashing here at Sandown in the Celebration Chase last April, and Il Etait Temps is odds-on to make it two wins from two starts around Sandown Park on Saturday.

Jonbon successfully defended his Tingle Creek crown with an excellent eight-length triumph here at Sandown 12 months ago. Nicky Henderson's star has suffered three defeats since then, losing to Il Etait Temps in April and to L'Eau Du Sud in the recent Shloer Chase.

Dan Skelton had his top chaser fully revved for that Grade Two at Cheltenham, and L'Eau Du Sud hammered Jonbon by 15 lengths. Skelton's star ran out an easy winner of the Henry VIII Novices' Chase on this card last year, and L'Eau Du Sud currently splits the top two in the market.

Libberty Hunter fell when making progress in the Champion Chase in March, and unseated Harry Cobden fairly early on his comeback in the Shloer Chase. Harry Fry's Boothill - pulled up on his return in a handicap at Ascot - completes the field.

2025 Tingle Creek Chase Tips

For just the second time in his career over fences, JONBON (4/1) will go off at odds-against on Saturday, and Nicky Henderson's star looks to be the value bet in this year's Tingle Creek.

I'm always keen to side against Jonbon around Cheltenham, and wasn't surprised in the slightest when L'Eau Du Sud hammered the odds-on favourite in the Shloer Chase. Dan Skelton intimated that L'Eau Du Sud couldn't possibly be any fitter than he was at Cheltenham come Sandown, whereas Nicky Henderson seemed confident that his beaten star would improve for that seasonal reappearance.

Jonbon's record around Sandown is excellent. Nico de Boinville's mount has won five of his six starts in Grade Ones on this chase track, including two effortless victories in the last two renewals of the Tingle Creek. Jonbon excels around this testing track.

Il Etait Temps handed Henderson's star his sole defeat at this venue in the Celebration Chase back in April. Willie Mullins' raider came into that Grade One on the back of a light campaign, whereas Jonbon was having his sixth start of the season, and endured tough races in both the Champion Chase and the Melling Chase in the six weeks before that defeat.

There is some rain in the air around Sandown, but any further softening of the ground would suit the strong-staying Jonbon. Henderson has fitted first-time cheekpieces for this assignment, and the additional apparatus - plus the return to Sandown - could ignite Jonbon's fire again.
