The 2026 Yorkshire Oaks at York, a Group 1 race for fillies and mares, features star older mare Kalpana as the favourite following a major win at Ascot. Minnie Hauk and Johanna Walsh are also top contenders, with Johanna impressing in the Irish Oaks. Legacy Link, touted as an overlooked each-way option, could spring a surprise if she returns to her early-season form. The race offers a £600,000 prize and will headline Ladies Day at the Ebor Festival, airing live on ITV1.

The second day of York's Ebor Festival is headlined by the Yorkshire Oaks. Unlike the Epsom and Irish Oaks, older horses can take on the three-year-olds in this Group One, and it's this season's leading older mare who currently tops the betting.

Here's our free guide to the 2026 Yorkshire Oaks betting, including our best betting tips.

Kalpana claimed the biggest win of her career when beating Calandagan in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last month. Andrew Balding said after that victory that York could still be on her agenda, and most bookmakers make Kalpana their clear favourite.

Minnie Hauk took down Estrange to win this race 12 months ago, and Aidan O'Brien's filly sits second in the current betting. Runaway Irish Oaks winner Johanna Walsh represents Joseph O'Brien and takes on older fillies and mares for the first time.

Ralph Beckett's emphatic Lancashire Oaks winner Tattycoram steps into Group One company for the first time at the Ebor Festival. Irish Oaks runner-up Inis Mor and Ribblesdale Stakes winner Earth Shot bolster the three-year-old contingent, along with Epsom Oaks runner-up Legacy Link.

Oaks third Sugar Island will be on pace-making duties for Minnie Hauk. Jim Bolger's progressive filly Sparan Nua also features in the field.

2026 Yorkshire Oaks Tips

It's great to see Kalpana out again after that superb victory in the King George. I thought that the fast ground would be her undoing at Ascot, but Oisin Murphy's mount excelled on the surface, and Kalpana will take plenty of beating on Thursday.

Minnie Hauk was ridden like she was supposed to make the running in the King George, and faded tamely out of contention late on. Aidan O'Brien's mare is far better than she showed that day, and I'd be shocked if she didn't provide Kalpana with a stiff challenge.

Johanna Walsh was super impressive in the Irish Oaks, and looks a big player with that three-year-old allowance on her side. Another three-year-old to consider is LEGACY LINK (16/1), who seems to have been completely overlooked in the market following her defeat at Royal Ascot.

John and Thady Gosden's filly went into the Epsom Oaks as one of the fancied runners, having scored in the Musidora Stakes here at York on her reappearance. Colin Keane's mount tanked through that Classic at Epsom, hitting the front with two furlongs to travel. Sadly, Thundering On was travelling even better as she tracked Legacy Link into contention, before displaying an excellent turn of foot to win by four lengths.

In hindsight, the Gosdens will regret running Legacy Link in the Ribblesdale just two weeks after that huge Classic effort. Keane's mount travelled with no real zest at all, and faded quickly as Earth Shot and Johanna Walsh moved on to fight out the finish.

Legacy Link has been freshened up since that tame effort at the Royal meeting, and she has performed well on fast ground before. The form of the Epsom Oaks is a little suspect, but this beautifully bred daughter of Dubawi looked highly progressive earlier in the season, and she's capable of running a huge race at York if back to her peak form.
