The SunBet Poker Tour GrandWest returns to Cape Town this November with 16 tournaments and R10 million guaranteed, led by the R15,000 MonsterStack Main Event and the much-anticipated Hendon Mob Championship Cape Town Million.

The SunBet Poker Tour makes its long-awaited return to the iconic GrandWest Casino in Cape Town from November 19 to 30, promising a 16-event schedule worth R10 million (approx. $560,000) in total guarantees.

The festival will close out the South African poker calendar in grand fashion, combining deep structures, international-standard organization, and a lively atmosphere that has made GrandWest a fan favorite.

The spotlight event is the R15,000 MonsterStack Main Event, which carries a R4 million (approx. $225,000) guaranteed prize pool and offers an ideal mix of value, prestige, and structure for serious competitors.

Spotlight: The R4 Million MonsterStack Main Event

The MonsterStack Main Event stands as the centre piece of the GrandWest leg, inviting players to start with 100,000 chips and a slow, skill-testing structure designed for strategic depth. With three starting flights scheduled, players can find the perfect time to join the action:
  • Day 1A: Thursday, November 27 at 12 p.m.
  • Day 1B: Friday, November 28 at 11 a.m.
  • Day 1C: Friday, November 28 at 7 p.m.

Day 1A and 1B will feature 60-minute levels, while Day 1C plays with 40-minute levels for a more fast-paced experience.

Unlimited re-entry is available through 13 levels, with late registration open until 4:30 p.m. on Day 2. Last year’s edition delivered a record turnout of 504 entries, generating a R6,350,400 ($351,395) prize pool.

Saurabh Gulati, a Mauritius-based player, claimed victory after a three-way deal, overcoming a history-making final table featuring Ronit Chamani and Diane Walker, both of whom became the first women to reach the top three.

Reflecting on his triumph, Gulati said, “It was pressure in the start, but after that it got easier with the chip lead and everything. I had a ball.”

The Hendon Mob Championship Cape Town Million Returns

Another major attraction at GrandWest is The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) Cape Town Million, one of the region’s most respected mid-tier poker tournaments.

Priced at R8,000 with a 30,000-chip starting stack, it comes with a R1.25 million guarantee, appealing to players eager to add a South African flag to their The Hendon Mob profiles.

The event runs three starting flights from November 23-24, leading to Day 2 on Tuesday, November 25.
The structure features 30-minute levels with a big blind ante, and unlimited re-entry available through the first 11 levels. One in eight entries will make the money, adding an element of high-value play to every table.

In 2024, THMC exceeded expectations, drawing 299 entries for a R2,009,280 ($111,000) prize pool. Cape Town’s Muaaz Gani took the title after a heads-up deal with Sugen Singh, proudly keeping the trophy at home. “Today was actually a day where I really wanted to have that trophy,” said Gani, celebrating his memorable win.

With its growing popularity and inclusion in the official SunBet Poker Tour calendar, the 2025 THMC Cape Town Million is poised to draw an even larger and more competitive field.
