GGPoker has announced new client security features, enhanced win-rate anomaly detection, a ban on third-party poker software and automation tools, and plans to end support for older operating systems in 2027 following a recent security incident.
GGPoker is introducing a Client Security section in Game Settings with four optional features that operate only while the client is open: Screen Guard, Connection Monitor, Allowed Processes, and DNS Check.
Screen Guard is designed to prevent screenshots, recordings, screen-sharing and remote-viewing applications from accessing poker tables and hole cards.
Enabling “Protect the whole Client” extends protection to the lobby, cashier and account pages, including GG Wallet balances, transaction history and personal details.
Connection Monitor alerts users to applications with suspicious connections, including remote-control tools and proxies.
Allowed Processes lets users identify trusted applications that should not trigger alerts, while DNS Check scans the network for signs of DNS hijacking.
Win-Rate Anomaly Detection
GGPoker has added Abnormally High Win-Rate Detection (WAD) to its game integrity monitoring system. Existing checks examine hand histories for potential collusion, ghosting, botting and real-time assistance tools.
WAD introduces a different approach by evaluating individual decisions against the cards opponents actually held. It looks for players making correct decisions far more frequently than an honest playing style would allow, despite not being able to see those cards.
GGPoker said testing identified past cases and that the method could help prevent similar edge cases in the future.
Ban on Third-Party Poker Software
GGPoker is prohibiting all third-party poker software and automation tools running alongside its client. The company said such applications may access game data, interact with tables or automate computer actions, creating additional risks for player information.
Previously, certain tools that did not affect gameplay were permitted. Following the recent incident, GGPoker is tightening its policy to reduce the risk of a similar occurrence.
Prohibited applications include:
- Jurojin
- PokerTracker 4
- Hand2Note
- Holdem Manager 3
- StarsCaption
- DriveHUD 2
- Intuitive Tables
- Lobbyze
- Equilab
- AutoHotkey
- Other third-party poker software and automation tools.
Support for Older Windows and macOS Versions to End in 2027
Legacy Operating System Support Ends in 2027
GGPoker will end support in 2027 for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, macOS 11 (Big Sur) and earlier operating systems.
The company cited the lack of manufacturer security patches for these platforms and the need to protect accounts against modern exploits and critical security risks. Players are advised to upgrade to at least Windows 10 or macOS 12 (Monterey) before the transition.
GGPoker said it traced the funds involved in the incident and identified the associated cryptocurrency wallet address.
It shared its findings with Coinbase, where it believes the funds were deposited, and requested that the exchange restrict the associated account and preserve its records.
The company also reported the wallet addresses to industry networks that track illicit funds and to law enforcement.
GGPoker said it would continue cooperating with authorities and the community, adding that further updates would follow as the investigation progresses and additional security features become available.
