St Helens vs Leeds Rhinos Super League Round 25 Tips & Prediction

St Helens are backed to stay within the +8.5 line against league leaders Leeds Rhinos in what should be one of the games of the round.

Saints have shown a real lift over the last fortnight, beating Wakefield 46-16 before seeing off Castleford 36-12. Leeds remain the stronger side overall, but this looks a much tougher assignment than last week's 66-16 demolition of York.

The return of Jonny Lomax and David Klemmer is another boost for St Helens, while Jack Welsby remains their biggest attacking threat.

Welsby is also the tryscorer play after scoring five tries in his last five games, finding the line in four of those five.

  • St Helens have won their last two matches.
  • Saints have scored 36+ points in both of those wins.
  • St Helens lost the first meeting this season 24-16.
  • Jack Welsby has scored five tries in his last five games.
  • Welsby has scored in four of those five matches.

St Helens Form Analysis

St Helens are playing with far more confidence after back-to-back wins over Wakefield and Castleford.

Their attack has looked sharper through Welsby, Tristan Sailor and Harry Robertson, while the return of Lomax gives them another experienced organiser. At home, Saints should be capable of staying within one converted try and a penalty of Leeds.

Leeds Rhinos Form Analysis

Leeds remain top of the table and responded to their defeat against Leigh by thrashing York 66-16.

Brodie Croft and Jake Connor continue to drive a dangerous attack, but Saints should offer far more resistance than York and have enough quality to keep this competitive.

St Helens vs Leeds Rhinos Team News

St Helens lose Jackson Hastings to suspension, but Jonny Lomax returns to the 21-man squad after recovering from a fractured jaw. David Klemmer is also back in contention following three broken ribs.

Leeds head into the clash in strong form and will be looking to maintain top spot, with their key attacking combinations intact.

Verdict

St Helens +8.5 is the best bet, while Jack Welsby is backed to score anytime after crossing five times in his last five appearances.
