2026 Ascot Chase Tips - Bet without Jonbon to make a profit

The 2026 Ascot Chase is set for an exciting showcase, with Jonbon poised as the strong 4/9 favorite, thanks to his undefeated record at Ascot. Pic D'Orhy, despite a few recent defeats, is also a strong contender. Meanwhile, Edwardstone clinched a victory at Kempton's Silviniaco Conti Chase. However, bettors might find value in backing Blow Your Wad in the 'betting without Jonbon' market, as this promising gelding has shown aptitude on Ascot's track and in challenging conditions.

Ascot stages its biggest jumps card of the season on Saturday afternoon. The main event on the afternoon is the Ascot Chase, a two-and-a-half-mile Grade One that's been won by greats like One Man, Kauto Star, Monet's Garden and Cue Card.

Here's the latest Ascot Chase betting and a look through the most likely runners.

2026 Ascot Chase Runners

Dominating the betting for Saturday's feature is Jonbon. Nicky Henderson's star is unbeaten around Ascot, winning the last two renewals of the Clarence House Chase, and most bookies list Jonbon as the 4/9 favourite over this longer trip.

Reigning and defending two-time Ascot Chase winner, Pic D'Orhy sits second in the market, despite three defeats since his victory here 12 months ago. Edwardstone came out on top in the Silviniaco Conti Chase last time out, and Alan King's 12-year-old sits third in the current market.

Caoilin Quinn has been confirmed in the saddle of Blow Your Wad, on what will be his first start for Gary and Josh Moore. Jennie Candlish's Classic Maestro and Dan Skelton's Heltenham complete the line-up.

2026 Ascot Chase Tips

There seems to be little point in taking on Jonbon. Nicky Henderson's star has been crying out for a trip for some time now. He loves Ascot, and soft ground has never really bothered him.

The favourite's chief competitors are 11 and 12 years old. Pic D'Orhy has always been better on nicer ground, and this trip could be a stretch for Edwardstone, despite his recent win at Kempton. Maybe there's some value to be found in the "betting without Jonbon" market?

In that special market, I'd chance my arm with BLOW YOUR WAD (17/2). Grade One company always seemed a stretch for this gelding during his time with Tom Lacey, as Blow Your Wad finished down the field in the 2023 Tolworth and twice in top races around Aintree.

Gary and Josh Moore's recruit has recorded a victory at Grade Two level, having beaten Tahmuras in the 2024 Pendil. Both of Blow Your Wad's runs so far this season have come over three miles here at Ascot, and he ran well to place third behind Henry's Friend in the Sodexo Gold Cup, before a couple of untimely errors halted his progress in the Howden Silver Cup.

Blow Your Wad likes this track, and handles soft ground well. If the switch to the Moore's yard hasn't unsettled this classy handicapper, then I could see Blow Your Wad following Jonbon home in second.
