2026 Sharp Novices' Hurdle Runners
Planters Punch won three times in junior hurdle races last term, meaning he still holds novice status coming into the new season. Nico de Boinville's mount heads the betting for Friday's feature at Cheltenham, where he'll face Dan Skelton's Cooltobecareless, who bolted up on his hurdles debut at Chepstow earlier this month.
Sam, Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies will team up with Scott's Legacy following his emphatic victory over Matiwo at Newton Abbot. Matiwo will represent Jane Williams, along with Tom Lacey's experienced hurdler Eternal Angel also featuring in Friday's line-up.
Ed Buckley sends Navan handicap winner Bells Grove over from Ireland. Jonny Burke rides Sixpack for James Owen. Alex Hales and Kielan Woods could combine with Spanish Darling. Governors Rock and Kingofthefrontier complete Friday's line-up.

2026 Sharp Novices' Hurdle Tips
From the top two in the market, I'm favouring Cooltobecareless over Planters Punch. Dan Skelton's five-year-old ran to a good level in bumpers and was impressive when scoring on his hurdles debut at Chepstow.
There's a fairly sizeable gap in the betting between the two and the chasing pack, and there's scope for an each-way punt against the market leaders. KINGOFTHEFRONTIER (28/1) is the market backmarker with some firms, but I think there's a good chance that John Dawson's five-year-old will outrun those odds.
An easy winner of a point-to-point at Charm Park in March, Dawson's recruit gave a good account of himself when second on his hurdles debut at Uttoxeter two months later. Kingofthefrontier was upped to two and a half miles for his reappearance at Southwell and saw out the trip well to claim a seven-length victory over some half-decent rivals.
Conor O'Farrell's mount travelled nicely behind the pace that day and loomed onto the leader's shoulder turning for home. Kingofthefrontier pinged the second-last and showed some nimble footwork at the final flight to correct a slight jink going into the hurdle before stretching clear close to home.
Given the way he travelled at Southwell, I can't see this drop back in trip causing him too many problems, and his confirmed stamina will come in useful on the climb to the line. Kingofthefrontier has plenty to find in terms of ratings, but there have been shocks in this race down the years, and Dawson's five-year-old seems the type that could take a decent step forward.
