Melbourne Storm is currently facing a challenging period with a four-game losing streak, landing them in 13th spot on the ladder. They hope to turn things around against the struggling Canberra Raiders. Despite Melbourne's shaky defense and a lack of confidence, there is a possibility they could rebound and pursue a victorious season. Meanwhile, Canberra has struggled as well, starting the season in 15th place. Predictions suggest Melbourne could secure a win, covering a -1.5 line, with Nick Meaney being a key player to watch.

Canberra Raiders vs Melbourne Storm Preview

Melbourne Storm have lost four straight and are desperate for a win. They can break their losing streak against a Canberra Raiders side having a horror start to the season. Nick Meaney is value to cross for a try.

  • Melbourne have won by an average of 17 pts across their last 7 victories vs Canberra.
  • The Under has hit in just 46% of games so far this season, the average over the past 7 seasons is 50/50.
  • Nick Meaney has scored a try in 2 of his last 4 games vs Raiders
  • Canberra have allowed 3 tries to right side centre/wings over their last 2 games.

Head to Head

Canberra won the lone matchup last season 20-18 at Magic Round but Melbourne have won seven of the 10 games prior including the most recent match at GIO Stadium back in 2021.

Canberra average just 14 points against Melbourne during the 11 regular season game span dating back to the start of 2019. They have failed to exceed 20 points in eight straight matchups.

Three of the last four games have gone Under the Game Total and despite not winning straight up, Canberra hold a 7-4 ATS record over the same span of games.

Canberra Raiders Fall From Grace

The Raiders have had one of the most dramatic falls to start 2026 but they were able to salvage a high scoring contest last week against South Sydney, sneaking away victorious 36-34 after leading 24-4 at the half time break.

They sit 15th on the ladder with two wins and four losses and a -67 pt differential, a stark contrast to the standings last season where they finished as minor premiers.

Kaeo Weekes was electric last weekend against the Bunnies scoring 2 tries as well as having one Linebreak, tackle Tackle Busts and having a hand in multiple tries.

Melbourne Storm Lose Four In A Row

Melbourne are in unfamiliar territory staring down the barrel of a 5th straight defeat and languishing in 13th spot on the ladder.

The current four-game losing streak equals a similar stretch in 2022 from the Storm, the only other time in the past seven seasons of footy that it has happened.

They are struggling defensively and have allowed the fourth most points of any team in the league over the first six rounds. Their usual confidence is nowhere to be found and the ability to fight back from a deficit also seems to be missing.

There is no doubt that this team will rebound at some stage, they could go on a 15-game win streak and compete for the minor premiership, but right now that goal is very far away.

Verdict

Take the Storm to win and cover the short -1.5 line. The Game Total to go under 48.5 and Nick Meaney to cross for a four pointer and as first tryscorer are also tipped.
