The Millennium Estoril Open returns to the ATP Tour calendar in 2026 after spending last season as an ATP Challenger 175 event.
Held on the clay courts of the Clube de Tenis do Estoril in Cascais from July 20 to 26, the ATP 250 tournament resumes its place on the main tour after a one-year absence.

Originally launched in 2015 as the successor to the Portugal Open, the Estoril Open has established itself as one of the most popular clay-court events in Europe. The 2026 edition features a competitive field led by Andrey Rublev, Luciano Darderi, Alejandro Tabilo and home favourite Nuno Borges, with fans once again able to enjoy top-level ATP action on the Portuguese Riviera.

Ranking Points & Prize Money

The Millennium Estoril Open offers players a valuable opportunity to earn ATP ranking points ahead of the North American hard-court swing. As an ATP 250 event, the champion receives 250 ranking points, while a deep run can provide an important boost in both the rankings and prize money during the second half of the season.

The 2026 tournament has a total prize pool of €612,620, with the champion set to receive €93,175. The ATP ranking points remain the standard allocation for ATP 250 tournaments.

Playing Conditions & Court Speed

The Millennium Estoril Open is played on the outdoor clay courts of the Clube de Tenis do Estoril in Cascais. The courts typically play at a medium-slow pace, producing high, consistent bounce that rewards players who are comfortable constructing points from the baseline and using heavy topspin.

Located at sea level on Portugal's Atlantic coast, Estoril generally offers slower conditions than higher-altitude clay events. Patience, movement and physical endurance are key factors, while big servers often find it harder to hit through the court against strong returners.

Recent Champions

The Millennium Estoril Open has produced a diverse list of champions since its launch in 2015, with established stars, clay-court specialists and rising talents all lifting the trophy. After being held as an ATP Challenger 175 event in 2025, the tournament returns to ATP 250 status in 2026, continuing its role as an important stop on the European clay-court calendar.

Former champions include Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz and Sebastian Baez, while Alex Michelsen claimed the ATP Challenger title in 2025. With the event back on the main tour, another high-quality field will compete to add their name to the tournament's growing history.

Top 8 Seeds

The 2026 Millennium Estoril Open features a balanced field led by former ATP Masters champion Andrey Rublev, who returns as the top seed. Luciano Darderi, Alejandro Tabilo and Alexander Blockx also headline the draw, while home favourite Nuno Borges will look to make the most of familiar conditions in front of the Portuguese crowd.

With several proven clay-court players and dangerous outsiders in the field, the race for the title appears wide open. The medium-slow conditions in Estoril should favour strong baseline players and create plenty of competitive matches throughout the week.

Players to Watch

Andrey Rublev
Rublev arrives in Estoril full of confidence after lifting the Bastad title last week. The Russian has rediscovered his best form on clay, but a demanding run to the trophy means fatigue could become a factor as he looks to back up that success with another deep run.

Luciano Darderi
Darderi also enjoyed an excellent week in Bastad, reaching the final, but he was pushed hard in almost every match. The Italian has the clay-court game to challenge for another title, although his physical condition after such a taxing week will be worth monitoring.

Nuno Borges
Home favourite Nuno Borges enters the tournament fresh and will have the backing of the Portuguese crowd throughout the week. Comfortable in the Estoril conditions and eager to perform on home soil, Borges has every chance to put together a strong run.

Daniel Merida Aguilar
Daniel Merida Aguilar arrives with plenty of momentum after capturing the ATP Challenger title in Estoril last year. Full of confidence and already familiar with the conditions, the young Spaniard is an exciting player to watch and could spring a few surprises against higher-ranked opponents.

Verdict

Andrey Rublev is the player to beat after carrying outstanding momentum into Estoril following his Bastad title triumph. While fatigue is the only real concern, his experience and quality make him the favourite to lift the trophy.

Home favourite Nuno Borges has a great opportunity to make a deep run with the support of the local crowd, while Daniel Merida Aguilar looks well placed to build on last year's title-winning run in Estoril and emerge as one of the tournament's surprise packages.
