The Bybit Stockholm Open begins today at the Royal Tennis Hall and runs until November 14. First staged in 1969, it is the oldest indoor tournament on the ATP calendar and the only one played in a purpose-built tennis arena. It is an ATP 250 event on indoor hard courts, and champions here have included Björn Borg, John McEnroe and Roger Federer. 

Taylor Fritz is the top seed, with defending champion Casper Ruud seeded second. Lorenzo Musetti is third and Alejandro Tabilo fourth. Ruud beat Ugo Humbert in last year’s final, and both are back in the draw. Three Swedish wildcards, Leo Borg, Elias Ymer and Max Dahlin, will have the home crowd behind them. 

The winner takes home €110,055 and 250 ranking points from a total prize fund of €723,435. The top four seeds get a bye into the second round.

Tournament Overview

The singles draw has 28 players. Four qualifiers join the main draw, and Tomas Machac was the last direct acceptance at No. 75. Seeds one to four skip the first round. Everyone else plays a 32-draw first round, which carries no ranking points. Players earn 25 points for reaching the second round, 50 for the quarter-finals, 100 for the semi-finals and 165 for the final. 

The fast indoor surface favours big servers and flat hitters. Matches can turn on a handful of points. The quarter-finals follow on Friday, with the semi-finals on Saturday and the final on Sunday.

Recent Champions

Ruud ended a run of American winners last year, beating Humbert 6–2, 6–3 for his first Stockholm title. Tommy Paul won in 2021 and 2024, and neither he nor the 2023 champion Gaël Monfils is in this year’s field. Holger Rune, the 2022 champion, is back as an unseeded player. He faces Zizou Bergs in the first round.

Top 8 Seeds

Fritz heads the top quarter and opens against the winner of James Duckworth and Cameron Norrie. Musetti leads the second quarter. He could meet wildcard Leo Borg in the round of 16, which would be a big occasion for the home fans. Humbert, last year’s finalist, is also in that quarter. 

Tabilo and Michelsen are in the third quarter, and Ruud and Etcheverry fill the bottom section. The pick of the first round is Rune against Bergs. The two Frenchmen Arthur Rinderknech and Quentin Halys also have tricky draws.

Players to Watch

Taylor Fritz 
The top seed has a big serve and flat groundstrokes that suit quick indoor courts. He has a bye and a manageable path to the quarter-finals. As the highest-ranked player in the field, he is the one to beat. 

Casper Ruud 
The defending champion has the best recent record at this event. He is seeded second despite his No. 23 ranking and has a bye. His consistency from the baseline could carry him deep again. 

Lorenzo Musetti 
The Italian offers variety, with a one-handed backhand, slice and touch. He has a bye and could meet Leo Borg in the round of 16. That match would test his focus in front of a partisan crowd. 

Holger Rune 
The 2022 champion is unseeded but dangerous. He opens against seed Zizou Bergs, so he will need to win a tough first match. If he gets through, he is a threat in the top quarter. 

Ugo Humbert 
Last year’s finalist is seeded seventh and likes fast indoor conditions. He opens against Adolfo Daniel Vallejo and has a good chance of reaching the second week.
