Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz clash in the 2026 Paris Masters final on Sunday 8 November. Alcaraz is tipped to win, but both players have a history of long matches—Alcaraz has seen a tie break in 11 of his last 15, while Shelton has gone the distance in five of his last six. Their head-to-head stands at 3-1 to Alcaraz, though Shelton won their last meeting at the US Open. Markets such as a tie break in the match or over 10.5 games in set one are supported by recent trends.

Ben Shelton won his last three matches in 3 sets and beat Carlos Alcaraz in 5 sets at the US Open. Everything points to another long match in Paris where Alcaraz can turn the tables.

Shelton Chasing Fifth 2026 Title

Ben Shelton has won four titles this year, in Dallas, Munich, Stuttgart and Montreal. He beat Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open where he lost to Alexander Zverev in the final.

The American climbed into the Top 5 but hasn’t backed it up as of yet, beaten by Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka at the Davis Cup. He went out early in his last two events, beaten by Arthur Gea in Shanghai and Jerome Kym in Basel.

The 24-year-old cruised past Cameron Norrie 6-3 6-4 in Paris but has gone the distance in all three matches since. He outlasted Arthur Rinderknech 3-6 6-4 7-6, Tommy Paul 6-4 4-6 6-3 and Luca Van Assche 5-7 6-3 6-4, saving a combined 5/10 break points in France.

Alcaraz Back to His Best

Carlos Alcaraz is getting back to his best after returning from a wrist injury, going 19-2 and winning two titles. He lifted the trophy in Tokyo before a third round defeat to Zizou Bergs in Shanghai.

The Spaniard won the title in Vienna without dropping a set. He beat Karen Khachanov, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Tommy Paul and Daniil Medvedev before defeating Alex de Minaur in the final.

The 23-year-old beat Alex Michelsen 7-6 6-3 in Paris and had a walkover against Matteo Berrettini. He saved two match points in a 6-7 7-5 6-3 win over Taylor Fritz before a comfortable 6-4 6-4 victory against Casper Ruud.

Verdict

Carlos Alcaraz lost to Ben Shelton in 5 sets at the US Open but is back to full fitness now. I think Alcaraz will get it done, but he might have to work hard for the title in Paris.
