Bucsa Finds Her Best Form At The Right Time

Cristina Bucsa reached the semifinals in Guadalajara after defeating Sara Bejlek in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4. She trailed by a break in the second set before making a comeback to seal the match.

The Spanish player struggled with consistency and form earlier this year, including an eight-match losing streak at one stage, but has shown some resurgence in recent weeks.

She has registered multiple main-draw wins only three times this year, including this week, while also winning the title at another Mexican event in Merida and reaching the third round at the US Open.

She owns a 2-0 record in tour-level semifinals, defeating Maya Joint in Hong Kong in 2025 and Jasmine Paolini in Merida earlier this year, and looks to extend that perfect record this week.

Jovic Keeps Her Guadalajara Title Defence Alive

Iva Jovic defeated former champion Magdalena Frech with little trouble to reach the semifinals in Guadalajara, winning 6-2, 6-1. She did not lose her serve and broke her opponent four times during the match.

Last year, she defeated Nikola Bartunkova in three tight sets at this stage before lifting the title, and she looks to repeat that this week. She is now looking for her first tour-level final since Hobart earlier this year.

The 18-year-old has played impressive tennis so far, including six quarterfinal-or-better results along with fourth-round appearances in Wimbledon, Rome and the US Open. These results have kept her in the top 20 in the rankings.

She has a 2-3 record in tour-level semifinals in her career, with both of her previous wins coming against players ranked outside the top 200.
