Linda Noskova is favored to continue her impressive season in Beijing despite a previous defeat by Elena-Gabriela Ruse at Bad Homburg. Noskova arrives with strong momentum, following a stellar US Open run and key wins at the Billie Jean King Cup. Ruse, meanwhile, takes confidence from a recent Seoul quarterfinal and their head-to-head advantage but has been inconsistent against top players. The recommendation leans towards Noskova, whose consistent form and strong record against lower-ranked opponents may secure her the win.

Noskova Returns To Beijing With Strong Momentum

Linda Noskova had a successful North American swing, where she registered her best result at the US Open by reaching the quarterfinals, along with a third-round run in Cincinnati.

She continued that momentum into the Billie Jean King Cup last week, where she won all three of her matches, including against Elina Svitolina, to help her team win the title for a record 12th time.

The Czech has had an impressive season so far. She posted only three quarterfinal-or-better results in the first three months despite often going out in the early rounds, but her impressive 12-1 grass-court record turned her season around and helped her make her top-10 debut.

With strong momentum and form, she is looking to defend her runner-up points this week in Beijing after reaching the final last year. This is her third appearance here, having received a second-round walkover in 2023.

Elena-Gabriela Ruse Builds Confidence After Seoul Run

Elena-Gabriela Ruse defeated rising youngster Lilli Tagger in straight sets to reach the second round in Beijing, 6-4, 6-2. She lost her serve twice but broke her opponent four times during the match.

The Romanian had a disappointing stretch before entering Asia, losing five of her last seven matches, but she reached the quarterfinals in Seoul last week, which boosted her confidence. She will now look to continue that momentum this week.

The 28-year-old has played 20 events this year and registered multiple wins only five times, including semifinal appearances in Bad Homburg and Linz and quarterfinal runs in 's-Hertogenbosch and Seoul.

Verdict

Ruse can take confidence from her quarterfinal run in Seoul and her victory over Noskova earlier this year. However, Noskova’s superior recent form and overall level give her the edge in this matchup.
