Sramkova Looks To Reset After Difficult Run

Rebecca Sramkova is set to play her first event since her disappointing qualifying loss at the US Open a few weeks ago, where she lost to Alevtina Ibrahimova in straight sets. She is now looking to bounce back while making her debut in Singapore.

The 29-year-old has struggled to produce results this year, with most of her campaigns ending either in the qualifying stages or the first round, including eight of her last nine events.

These results have pushed her close to dropping outside the top 150 in the rankings. She is now looking to reset her season during the Asian swing and build some momentum this week.

Chwalinska Searches For A Return To Form

Maja Chwalinska has struggled to replicate her clay-court form in recent months and has won only one match in her last five events. She needs a positive result this week to regain her confidence.

The 24-year-old had not registered multiple main-draw wins on tour before 2026, but breakthrough results such as reaching the quarterfinals in Cluj-Napoca and the final at Roland Garros helped her improve her ranking by more than 100 places and brought her close to a top-20 debut.

She has also recorded three other quarterfinal-or-better results at WTA 125 level this year. She heads into this clash with a 3-5 record in opening-round matches on tour this year.

Verdict

Sramkova’s experience could help her, but her recent dip in form remains a concern. Chwalinska has also struggled since the clay season, yet her overall performances have been better than Sramkova’s, giving her the edge in this clash.
