Jannik Sinner has dominated this rivalry in recent years, winning seven of the last eight meetings with Novak Djokovic, including official and exhibition matches. The Italian also arrives in much fresher condition, having not dropped a set since his opening-round five-setter against Miomir Kecmanovic, while Djokovic comes into this semifinal after a grueling five-hour, five-set battle in the quarterfinals. That physical advantage could prove decisive.

The Biggest Match Of The Fortnight

  • He owns a 4–3 record against Top 10 players on grass.

Defending Champion Returns to the Last Four

Jannik Sinner secured his place in the Wimbledon semifinals after defeating Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6, 6-3. He lost his serve once and converted three of the nine break points he created during the match.

This is his third Wimbledon semifinal, and notably all three have come against Novak Djokovic. He lost at this stage in 2023 before converting last year's semifinal into his maiden Wimbledon title.

The Italian recently suffered one of the toughest defeats of his career, losing to Juan Manuel Cerundolo after leading by two sets and 5-1 at Roland Garros. Since then, he has not looked as dominant as earlier in the season.

Before that setback, Sinner had won five consecutive Masters titles, including three on clay, a remarkable achievement considering he had never previously won a title above ATP 250 level on the surface.

He heads into this clash with a 6-3 career record in Grand Slam semifinals, winning five of his last six. His semifinal record against Novak Djokovic stands at 2-3, with their most recent meeting coming at the 2026 Australian Open.

Djokovic Reaches Record 15th Wimbledon Semifinal

Novak Djokovic defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime in a five-set thriller, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, to book his place in the Wimbledon semifinals. It was the longest quarterfinal in Wimbledon history, with both players dropping serve twice before Djokovic prevailed in the deciding-set tiebreak.

The Serbian became only the third player in the Open Era to reach 15 semifinals at a single Grand Slam, joining Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic has previously played 14 Wimbledon semifinals, winning 10 of them. Before his loss to Jannik Sinner at this stage last year, he had won nine consecutive Wimbledon semifinals.

The 39-year-old has dealt with injury problems in recent months, leading to several early exits, but once again he has used his experience to put together another deep Grand Slam run. He is now chasing a record 25th Grand Slam singles title.

Djokovic heads into this clash with a 38-16 career record in Grand Slam semifinals. However, he has lost five of his last seven matches at this stage.
