Ukrainian Continues Remarkable Rise
Marta Kostyuk reached the Wimbledon semifinals after defeating Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2. She won 90% of her first-serve points and did not face a single break point during the match.
No Ukrainian player has ever reached the Wimbledon final. Elina Svitolina came close with two semifinal appearances but fell short on both occasions. Kostyuk now has the opportunity to become the first to achieve the feat.
After her outstanding clay-court season, the Ukrainian has continued her rise on grass. Before this year, she had never reached a grass-court quarterfinal, but she is now just one win away from the Wimbledon final.
Kostyuk has now won 22 of her last 23 matches, including titles in Rouen and Madrid and a runner-up finish at Roland Garros. Those results have secured her a new career-high ranking, with the Ukrainian currently sitting No. 10 in the live rankings.
This is only her second Grand Slam semifinal. She also reached this stage at Roland Garros a few weeks ago, where she lost to Mirra Andreeva in straight sets.

Noskova Reaches Maiden Major Semifinal
Linda Noskova defeated Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5 to reach the Wimbledon semifinals. She saved the only break point she faced and converted two of the 11 break opportunities she created.
With this run, Noskova became the youngest player to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon since Petra Kvitova in 2010.
The Czech has built excellent momentum on grass this season, winning 10 of her 11 matches, including her maiden grass-court title in Berlin. During that stretch, she has defeated Jessica Pegula, Sorana Cirstea, Madison Keys, and Elise Mertens.
This is Noskova's third semifinal of the season. She lost to Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells before defeating Alexandra Eala during her title run in Berlin.
This is the first Grand Slam semifinal of her career, and she heads into this clash with a 6-6 career record in tour-level semifinals.
