Novak Djokovic, now in his ninth straight Wimbledon fourth round, faces Roman Safiullin, whose impressive display has propelled him back into the top 100 rankings. Despite Djokovic's dominance over Safiullin (3-0 head-to-head) and his formidable grass-court record, this season has seen the Serbian consistently drop sets. The analysis suggests the best values are backing over 3.5 sets or a 3-1 Djokovic win, expecting another challenging match for the defending champion.

Novak Djokovic has dropped at least one set in 15 of the 17 matches he has played this season, making routine straight-set victories increasingly rare. While Roman Safiullin is unlikely to have enough to pull off the upset over five sets, he has the game to make life difficult for the Serbian. With Djokovic too short in the outright market, the set and totals markets offer the better value.

Djokovic's Grass-Court Mastery Faces Another Test

  • Safiullin is one win away from reaching his second Wimbledon quarterfinal.
  • He owns a 3–14 career record against Top 10 players.
  • Djokovic has not lost a fourth-round Grand Slam match since 2020.
  • He holds a 21–1 record against players outside the Top 100 on grass.

Russian Completes Stunning Run

Roman Safiullin knocked out recent Roland Garros quarterfinalist and rising star Joao Fonseca in commanding fashion, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the fourth round at Wimbledon. The Russian saved all five break points he faced and converted four of the 15 break opportunities he created.

The victory capped an extraordinary week for Safiullin, who had already survived three consecutive five-set matches against Jerome Kym, Andrey Rublev, and Botic van de Zandschulp before producing his most convincing performance of the tournament.

With this run, Safiullin is set to return to the top 100 after struggling for consistency over the past two seasons. Notably, this is the first time he has registered multiple main-draw wins at a tour-level event since Miami last year.

This is Safiullin's second fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon and at a Grand Slam. During his previous run in 2023, he defeated Denis Shapovalov before losing to Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic Eyes Another Quarterfinal

Novak Djokovic defeated Arthur Rinderknech in four sets, 7-5, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6, to move into the fourth round at Wimbledon. He dropped serve three times but converted three of his nine break-point opportunities to secure the victory.

This is Djokovic's ninth consecutive appearance in the fourth round at Wimbledon and his 18th overall. His only defeat at this stage came back in 2006.

The Serbian has looked more vulnerable than usual in recent months, frequently dropping sets and failing to convert key opportunities. However, his performances this week have been encouraging, with his level improving as the tournament has progressed.

Djokovic heads into this clash with a remarkable 64-5 career record in Grand Slam fourth-round matches. He has not lost at this stage since the 2020 US Open and will look to extend that outstanding record.
