Gold Coast Titans vs Dolphins NRL Betting Tips - Titans to cover opening half line in Round 27

The Gold Coast Titans face the Dolphins in a match where the Titans have struggled to deliver a full 80-minute performance but offer value on the first-half line (+6.5). The Dolphins, strong finals contenders, often start slowly but prove more dominant as the game progresses, making the second half likely to be the highest scoring. Herbie Farnworth and Phillip Sami stand out as top anytime tryscorer picks. The recommendation is to back the Titans early, expect more points in the second half, and target Farnworth and Sami for tries.

Gold Coast Titans vs Dolphins Verdict

The Titans can't put 80 minutes together but they are value to stay within the +6.5 first half line. The Dolphins tend to start slowly and that also leads to value in the second half being the highest scoring.

  • The Titans are hard to trust over 80 minutes, but the first-half line protects against the late fade that has hurt them repeatedly this season.
  • The Dolphins are finals-bound and far more complete, but their recent starts have left enough room for Gold Coast to strike early before the game opens up.
  • Gold Coast have conceded 36.0 points per game across their last 5, which makes the second half highest scoring angle more appealing than a straight full-game side play.
  • Herbie Farnworth and Phillip Sami both enter this matchup in strong attacking form, with Farnworth scoring against the Roosters last week and Sami continuing to be one of Gold Coast's best yardage and finishing weapons.

Head to Head Stats

The Dolphins have won four of the last five games against the Titans, including an 18-14 win earlier this season and a 36-30 result late last year.

Gold Coast's only win in that stretch came by seven points in 2024.

Gold Coast Titans Form

Gold Coast lost 42-22 to South Sydney last week, and the first 25 minutes were close to a disaster. The Rabbitohs piled on 5 early tries and led 28-0 before the Titans finally found a way back into the contest.

The positive is that Gold Coast did not fold completely. They cut the margin back to 28-16 midway through the second half, and Phillip Sami again gave them go-forward with another 200-metre performance.

Sami has been one of the few reliable parts of this Titans side, and his ability to win yardage out of trouble is why he remains a live tryscorer option.

The issue is still defensive resistance. The Titans have averaged only 16.8 points scored and 36.0 points conceded across their last five, and they have repeatedly allowed games to get away once the middle starts losing the ruck.

Dolphins Form Analysis

The Dolphins produced one of their best wins of the season last week, beating the Roosters 26-12 at Allianz Stadium and doing it the hard way.

They were reduced to 12 players, then 11 players, but still defended their line and held a top-four rival to 12 points.

That game said plenty about their finals credentials. Isaiya Katoa and Kodi Nikorima controlled the attack, Jeremy Marshall-King scored from dummy half, and Herbie Farnworth crossed for his 12th try of the season. It was not just a flashy win, it was a mature one.

The Dolphins have won five straight and are averaging 30.0 points scored across their last five games. Selwyn Cobbo is out this week, which removes a major finishing threat, but Tevita Naufahu comes onto the wing and the spine remains intact.

Verdict

Take the Titans +6.5 first-half line and the second half to be the highest scoring half. Herbie Farnworth and Phillip Sami are the anytime tryscorer plays.
