St George Illawarra Dragons vs Parramatta Eels Verdict

The season is over for both but Parramatta have dominated this fixture in recent seasons, winning 7 of the last 10, and are backed. Take the Eels to cover -3.5 in a game that stays under 57.5 points.

Parramatta have won 7 of the last 10 games against St George Illawarra, including a 30-20 win earlier this season.
The Dragons have averaged only 18.8 points across their last 5 games and rank 17th in both points scored and Linebreaks.
Parramatta's 38-18 win over Cronulla was one of their sharpest attacking games of the season, with 6 tries and a 91% Completion Rate.
Tallyn Da Silva scored twice last week and gets another friendly dummy-half attacking setup against a Dragons middle that has been under pressure for months.

Head to Head Stats

Parramatta have won four of the last five games against St George Illawarra, with the Dragons' only win in that stretch coming 34-20 at WIN Stadium last season. The Eels won 30-20 earlier this year, while the previous 3 Parramatta wins were by 1, 4 and 6 points.

St George Illawarra Dragons Form

The Dragons were hammered 44-10 by Manly last week, and the first half told the story. They were down 26-0 at the break after making 7 first-half errors and running for just 360 metres, while Manly controlled 63% of possession and rolled through the middle.

It did not get much better after halftime. The Sea Eagles stretched the lead to 40-0 before Tyrell Sloan and Moses Suli scored consolation tries, and the Dragons finished with 15 errors and a 62% Completion Rate.

That kind of ball control makes it almost impossible to build any pressure, especially for a side already short on repeat-set punch.

The Dragons have averaged 18.8 points scored and 30.8 conceded across their last 5 games. Blake Lawrie returning to the starting side gives them more middle size, but the overall profile still screams inconsistency, especially when they need to protect field position against Mitchell Moses.

Parramatta Eels Form

Parramatta were brilliant in their 38-18 upset over Cronulla last week. They scored twice in the opening 6 minutes, led 26-8 at halftime and played spoiler to the Sharks' top-four hopes with one of their most energetic attacking performances of the year.

Tallyn Da Silva was the headline betting note, scoring twice in the final 5 minutes. The first came off a Junior Paulo flick pass near the line, and the second came from a simple dummy at dummy half. That is exactly the sort of short-range craft that can punish a tired Dragons middle.

The Eels completed 41 of 45 sets, produced 9 Linebreaks and scored 6 tries despite having only 40% territory. That is a strange but encouraging profile, and if they are anywhere near that clean again, they have enough points in them to cover -3.5 without needing this to become a 60-point game.

Verdict

St George Illawarra Dragons v Parramatta Eels

Take Parramatta -3.5 and under 57.5. Tallyn Da Silva is the anytime tryscorer, and those 3 picks can be rolled into the same game multi.

Parramatta -3.5
