Newcastle Knights can boost their top four hopes with a comfortable win and live cover, but the day cam belong to Gold Coast Titans' Phillip Sami who can create club history with a try.

Newcastle have won three of the last five meetings between these sides, including a convincing 36-12 victory on the Gold Coast earlier this season.

The Knights have been particularly strong against the Titans at McDonald Jones Stadium, winning six of their last seven meetings at the venue.

Recent clashes also support the Under. The last four meetings have produced totals of 48, 44, 32 and 50 points, with each staying below the current 50.5-point line.

The Knights followed an impressive 30-6 victory over Brisbane with a 30-24 win over Canberra last weekend.

Newcastle were forced to fight throughout a seesawing contest but found enough attacking quality to hold off a late Raiders comeback.

Dominic Young was particularly dangerous, scoring twice and creating opportunities through his ability to break the defensive line, while Kalyn Ponga remains the key figure in an attack averaging 24.8 points across its last five games.

The Knights have also been extremely close in their recent defeats. Before their current two-game winning streak, Newcastle lost three consecutive matches by margins of two, one and two points.

Gold Coast Titans Form

Gold Coast's brief resurgence has quickly disappeared following two heavy defeats.

The Titans put together back-to-back victories over Manly and St George Illawarra, scoring 38 points in both games, but have since been beaten 42-6 by the Warriors and 30-8 by North Queensland.

Their defence remains the larger concern. Gold Coast have conceded 72 points across their last two games and are allowing an average of 28.8 points across their past five.
