St Helens are set to build on their impressive 46-16 win over Wakefield as they face Castleford Tigers in Super League Round 24. The Saints are tipped to cover the -16.5 handicap, with their dominant pack and attacking trio of Welsby, Sailor, and Robertson likely to exploit Castleford's defensive weaknesses. Jack Welsby, with 5 tries in his last 5 games, is a strong anytime tryscorer bet. While Castleford's attack has improved, their defence remains a major vulnerability against a resurgent Saints side.

St Helens vs Castleford Tigers Super League Round 24 Tips & Prediction

St Helens are backed to build on their impressive win over Wakefield and cover the -16.5 handicap against Castleford.

Saints produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Wakefield 46-16 last week, and this looks like another favourable attacking matchup. Castleford have struggled defensively, while Saints are one of the competition's better sides for generating tackle breaks.

The Saints pack should also have the advantage through the middle, creating the territory for Jack Welsby, Tristan Sailor and Harry Robertson to attack a vulnerable Castleford defensive line.

Welsby is the tryscorer selection. He has been increasingly influential in Saints' improved attack and should get opportunities against a Tigers side that has struggled badly with missed tackles adding to his current try scoring form.

  • St Helens defeated Wakefield 46-16 last week.
  • Saints have won two of their last five games.
  • Castleford have also won two of their last five.
  • Castleford have struggled badly for missed tackles this season.
  • Saints are among Super League's stronger teams for tackle breaks.
  • Jack Welsby has 5 tries in his last 5 games.

St Helens Form Analysis

Saints finally turned their improved attacking signs into a complete performance with a 30-point victory over Wakefield.

Their pack is generating better field position, while Welsby, Sailor and Robertson are playing with greater speed and creating opportunities on the edges. If that continues, Castleford could struggle to contain them for 80 minutes.

Castleford Tigers Form Analysis

Castleford remain difficult to predict, mixing competitive performances with some heavy defeats.

Their attack has improved with Daejarn Asi and Tom Weaver in the halves, but defence remains the issue. Against a Saints side capable of generating quick play-the-balls, offloads and tackle breaks, the Tigers could spend too much time defending their own line.

St Helens vs Castleford Tigers Team News

St Helens should again have a strong core available after their impressive victory over Wakefield, with Welsby, Sailor and Robertson providing the main attacking threats behind a powerful pack.

Castleford have greater stability in the halves with Asi and Weaver, giving them a better platform in attack. Their challenge will be finding enough defensive improvement to contain Saints through the middle and on the edges.

Verdict

St Helens -16.5 is the best bet, while Jack Welsby is backed to score anytime against a Castleford defence that could struggle with Saints' speed and tackle-breaking ability.
