Kaitlin Quevedo, a 20-year-old Spanish player, has recently broken into the WTA Top 100 thanks to solid WTA 125 results and better tour-level performances. Her opponent, Anhelina Kalinina from Ukraine, although struggling in recent hard-court events, brings notable experience and past clay-court success. This first-time meeting in Hamburg will test Quevedo’s momentum against Kalinina’s tour-level expertise. Despite Quevedo's form, Kalinina's higher ranking and experience make her the favorite to advance.

  • She has a 3–8 record against Top 100 players.

Quevedo Continues Top-100 Push

Kaitlin Quevedo was short of confidence and form during the first four months of the season, registering multiple main-draw wins at only one tournament. However, she has steadily raised her level in recent months.

Her best results have come at WTA 125 events, where she reached the final in Saint-Gaudens, the semifinals in Bastad, and the quarterfinals in Modena, showing clear improvement in recent weeks.

Before 2026, she had not recorded a main-draw win at tour level. This season, however, she has made five main-draw appearances and registered at least one win in four of them, including at the French Open, helping her break into the top 100 for the first time.

Kalinina Looks to Bounce Back

Anhelina Kalinina has struggled to replicate her early-season form in recent weeks, winning just one match across her last five tournaments, including opening-round exits at Wimbledon and Iasi.

Before that dip in form, she produced impressive results during the clay swing, reaching the third round in Madrid, the final in Rabat, and four other WTA 125 finals. Those results lifted her from outside the top 200 to back inside the world's top 60.

This will be her debut appearance in Hamburg. She has played three tour-level hard-court events this season without recording a main-draw win and will be looking for a better start this week.
