Luca van Assche and Ben Shelton meet for the first time in the 2026 Paris Masters semi-finals. The main tip is for the first set to go over 10.5 games, supported by both players' recent tendency for long matches—Shelton has gone the distance in four of his last five matches, while van Assche is coming off two three-set wins. With neither player having faced the other before and van Assche enjoying home support in Paris, a closely contested opening set is expected.

This will be the first match between Luca van Assche and Ben Shelton.

Luca van Assche Form

Luca Van Assche won the Estoril Open in July to break into the Top 50. He hasn’t matched those achievements on the hard court swing but managed to beat Valentin Vacherot in Lyon.

The Frenchman was last seen in Vienna where he suffered a 6-3 6-1 first round defeat to Learner Tien.

Van Assche didn’t drop a set in his opening two matches in Paris, beating Mariano Navone 6-3 7-5 and Tien 7-6 6-4. He upset Lorenzo Musetti 7-5 3-6 6-4 and outlasted Rinky Hijikata 6-4 6-7 7-5, hitting 39 winners and 19 unforced errors against the Australian.

Ben Shelton Form

Ben Shelton has won four titles this year, in Dallas, Munich, Stuttgart and Montreal. He beat Carlos Alcaraz on his way to the US Open final where he lost in 4 sets to Alexander Zverev.

The 24-year-old climbed to a career high World No.4 but hasn’t backed it up. He was beaten by Jakub Mensik and Jiri Lehecka at the Davis Cup.

The American went out early in his last two events, beaten by Arthur Gea in Shanghai and Jerome Kym in Basel.

Shelton breezed past Cameron Norrie 6-3 6-4 in Paris before going the distance on two occasions, defeating Arthur Rinderknech 3-6 6-4 7-6 and Tommy Paul 6-4 4-6 6-3.
