Andreeva Reaches Linz Semifinal Strongly

Mirra Andreeva defeated Sorana Cirstea 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 to reach the semifinals in Linz. She was broken four times but converted five of her nine break-point chances.

With this win, she snapped a three-match losing streak on clay and reached her first semifinal on the surface since Iasi 2024, where she went on to win the title.

The Russian had an impressive start to the season, reaching the quarterfinal in Brisbane, winning the title in Adelaide, and making the fourth round at the Australian Open.

However, her form dipped in recent weeks, with early exits in her title defenses in Dubai and Indian Wells, which pushed her close to dropping out of the top 10.

Andreeva now holds a 5-2 record in tour-level semifinals, winning five of her last six. Her only recent losses at this stage came against Aryna Sabalenka in Brisbane and Jasmine Paolini at the French Open in 2024.

Ruse Continues Stunning Linz Run

Elena Gabriela Ruse secured her place in the Linz semifinals with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 comeback win over Jelena Ostapenko. She recovered after losing a 3-1 lead in the second set and finished strongly.

Her path to the semifinals has been demanding, facing tough opponents throughout the week, including two tiebreak sets against Katie Boulter and a comeback win from a set down against Dayana Yastremska.

The Romanian had a slow start to the season, recording just three main-draw wins across eight tournaments. Her only multiple-win run at tour level in the last nine months came at the Australian Open, where she reached the third round.

Ruse holds a strong 4-1 record in tour-level semifinals. Her only loss at this stage came against Elina Svitolina in Rouen last year.
