Nikoloz Basilashvili faces Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of the 2026 Vienna Open, with the main tip being Basilashvili +1.5 sets. Basilashvili has shown strong form, winning 14 of his last 16 completed matches and recently re-entering the Top 100. Carlos Alcaraz, while ranked third, has not been winning comfortably since the US Open and suffered a recent defeat to Zizou Bergs in Shanghai. The recommendation is based on Basilashvili's positive momentum and Alcaraz's less dominant recent performances.

Nikoloz Basilashvili broke back into the Top 100 last week and will fancy his chances of going further. Carlos Alcaraz has not been winning easy since the US Open, the games markets in play in Vienna.

Basilashvili Back in the Top 100

Nikoloz Basilashvili dropped out of the Top 100 in 2023 but forced his way back in last week. His positive run of form started in Chengdu where he lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semi-finals.

The Georgian qualified in Shanghai but retired in the first round when trailing 6-3 2-2 against Adrian Mannarino. He went deep in Almaty last week, upsetting Stefanos Tsitsipas on his way to the final where he lost 6-7 6-1 6-3 to Daniil Medvedev.

The 34-year-old beat Jurij Rodionov 7-6 6-1 in the first round in Vienna, winning 54% of his 2nd serves and saving 4/5 break points.

Alcaraz Doing it Tough

Carlos Alcaraz returned from a wrist injury at the US Open, reaching the quarter-finals where he went down in 5 sets to Ben Shelton. He played one match at the Laver Cup, beating Taylor Fritz.

The 23-year-old won the title in Tokyo where all of his first sets went deep, defeating Jiri Lehecka 7-6 6-4 in the final. He suffered a shock 7-5 7-6 defeat to Zizou Bergs in the third round in Shanghai.

The Spaniard overcame Karen Khachanov 6-4 7-4 in his opening match in Vienna, winning 38% of his 2nd serves and unable to save two break points.
