Kostyuk Targets a Third Straight Grand Slam Quarterfinal

Marta Kostyuk defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets to book her place in the second week at the US Open, winning 6-3, 6-2. She trailed 0-2 in the second set but responded by winning six consecutive games to close out the match comfortably.

With this win, Kostyuk matches her result from last year at the US Open. She lost to Karolina Muchova in three sets at this stage in 2025, but with improved form and a higher ranking, she will be looking to go further this time.

The Ukrainian has been in incredible form and maintained her consistency across all surfaces this year, including an outstanding 16-1 record during the clay-court season. She has also reached the semifinals at her last two Grand Slam appearances.

Kostyuk heads into this clash with a 3-2 record in Grand Slam round-of-16 matches and will be looking to reach the quarterfinals at this level for the third consecutive Grand Slam this year.

Noskova Reaches a New US Open High

Linda Noskova defeated Ann Li in three sets to reach the fourth round at the US Open, winning 6-2, 6-7, 6-2. She had multiple chances to close out the match in straight sets but squandered them and was forced to play a decider before eventually finishing the job.

This is Noskova's best result at the US Open. Last year, she failed to reach the second week after losing to compatriot Karolina Muchova from a set up in the third round.

The Czech was ranked around the Top 30 at this time last year but has made a significant rise since then. Her impressive grass-court season helped her break into the Top 10 recently, including winning her maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon.

Noskova had played three Grand Slam round-of-16 matches before this tournament and won two of them, at the Australian Open in 2024 and Wimbledon in 2026. Her only loss at this stage came against Amanda Anisimova at Wimbledon last year.
