Marta Kostyuk Looks to Continue Her Impressive Comeback

Marta Kostyuk has posted solid results in both events of the North American swing this year, reaching the fourth round in Toronto and the quarterfinals in Cincinnati. Both of her losses came against the eventual champions, Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, respectively.

After reaching the final in Brisbane, the Ukrainian suffered an injury at the Australian Open that sidelined her for two months. However, she quickly rediscovered her level after returning and has reached at least the quarterfinals in four of her last six events, including title runs in Rouen and Madrid and semifinal appearances at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

This is her seventh main-draw appearance at the US Open, where she holds a 4-2 record in opening-round matches. Her best result came last year when she reached the fourth round.

Hunter Looks to End Her US Open Drought

Storm Hunter secured her place in the US Open main draw this week, notably defeating Madison Inglis and Darja Semenistaja during the qualifying stages. She has previously played here four times, but all of those appearances ended without a win, including in qualifying. She will be looking to break that streak and make her mark this week.
